Dr. Bassam Kinaia is the Director of the Graduate Periodontics Specialty Program at the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School . He is a Board Certified Periodontist from the American Board of Periodontology and the State of Michigan. He has obtained the prestigious designation of Diplomate from the American Academy of Periodontology and the International Congress of Oral Implantology .
He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Detroit Mercy - Dental School in Detroit, Michigan. He completed his Master of Science (MS) and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Periodontics and Dental Implants at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry and St. John Hospital Health System in Michigan.
Dr. Kinaia is devoted to teaching and research where he obtained a certificate of Excellence from the American Academy of Periodontology in recognition of his teaching and research fellowship. As a Director and Associate Professor at the University of Detroit Mercy, he teaches residents and periodontists the most recent surgical techniques in the fields of Dental Implants and Periodontology .
He is a clinician with years of private practice experience with a specific interest in dental implant and periodontal plastic surgery to enhance esthetic outcomes in Cosmetic Restorative dentistry. He has been chosen as Michigan's Top Periodontist by HOUR magazine for the past consecutive 7 years.
Dr. Kinaia is the recipient of the prestigious AAP 2018 Award for Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics . He lectures nationally in the United States and internationally, and has numerous publications and research in the field of Periodontology and Dental Implants . Susan has been part of the dental community for over 20 years. Susan started out her career as a chairside dental assistant and over the years has had the wonderful opportunity to hold many different positions within the office. Susan has a passion for all things dental. She enjoys all aspects of the dental office and have the opportunity to establish and maintain lasting relationships with our patients. Outside of her dental family, Susan has been married to her amazing husband for 20 years and they have 2 beautiful daughters, Avery and Addison. Together, they enjoy spending time with their dog Teddy, going to the movies, and traveling.
